Top 10 Anime Voice Actors Seiyuu with Epic and Beautiful Voices
Here is a list of Japanese voice actors, also called seiyuu (声優), that I kind of got used to since I heard their voices in many anime shows. To me, anime without Japanese is not anime so this article is solely about Japanese voice actors. I consider them as anime dubbing legends since their voices are quite distinct and unique and they voiced many iconic roles. Again, this is just my personal selection, as in the rest of my Top 10 lists. Voice acting is truly an art and seiyuu are more famous than many film actors in Japan. The video showing the last lines of the main Attack on Titan characters and the emotional reactions of their voice actors became viral on YouTube. This shows how voice actors can deeply connect with their characters, especially during long-term anime.
10. Tachiki Fumihiko
This voice actor played two iconic and legendary roles. The first one is extremely serious one, Ikari Gendo in Neon Genesis Evangelion. And the second one is extremely comedic, Hasegawa Taizou aka Madao in Gintama. There were also several references to Evangelion in Gintama, especially featuring this character who shares the same voice. What is quite cool is that this voice actor even played his own character in the live action Gintama movie!
9. Tsuda Kenjirou
This voice became quite viral! His voice is deep and the unique nasal accent makes it really satisfying to listen to. This man is currently almost everywhere, Jujutsu Kaisen, To Your Eternity, Golden Kamui, Seven Deadly Sins... His voice attracted a lot of attention also in Japan and its coolness became also subject of many jokes.
8. Ootsuka Houchuu
His famous role was Jiraiya from Naruto. Similarly to Shibata Hidekatsu who played the Third Hokage or King Bradley in Fullmetal Alchemist, his voice contains a sense of wisdom gained by age. Like the typical old voice that can cover middle-aged to very old characters.
7. Matsuoka Yoshitsugu
Kirito from Sword Art Online or Souma from Shokugeki no Souma. Quite popular roles that many anime fans know. Seems like this actor plays well young boy characters but did you know that he also played Betelgeuse in Re:Zero? That role was actually quite crazy, with a lot of insane voice acting, and this voice actor got a chance to show the world his true talent!
6. Sawashiro Miyuki
Kurapika in Hunter x Hunter, Shinon in Sword Art Online, Bishamon in Noragami, Mordred in fate series, Fujiko in Lupin, etc. Her voice appears in many anime and it is clearly distinct when compared to other female voices. Not too high as many other female voice actresses, but also feminine enough to play beautiful young female characters. I like the subtle rough feel in her voice which makes it easy to remember.
5. Inoue Kazuhiko
Those who break the rules are scum, but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum. This line by Hatake Kakashi became on of the most famous quotes from Naruto. Also, the voice of Kakashi became quite famous in the anime world. Apparently, this voice actor can not only dub cool male characters, but also cute little creatures like Nyanko sensei from Natsume Yuujinchou.
4.Sakamoto Maaya
Her voice, similarly to Takeuchi Junko who voice Naruto, sounds sometimes too male so these voice actresses often play young boys in various shows. Her famous roles are Ciel Phantomhive form Kuroshitsuji, Ryougi Shiki from Kara no Kyoukai or Merlin from Seven Deadly Sins. And that's not all, she is also quite a famous singer. She even sung some opening and ending songs for the shows she played in. Also, Ishikawa Yui, the voice actor of Violet Evergarden or Mikasa Ackerman can sing quite well. She even covered one of the Attack on Titan endings and sang the final song from the final episode with Linked Horizon!
3. Nakata Jouji
Deep voices always sound cool! This person has a voice deep as an abyss! Whenever I hear his voice in an anime I always feel goosebumps all over my body. Probably his most iconic role is Kotomine Kirei from Fate series.
2. Kamiya Hiroshi
His voice became especially famous thanks to his role of Levi in Attack on Titan. His voice can be stone cold, such as Levi, comedic such as yato form Noragami or heartwarming such as Natsume from Natsume Yuujinchou.
1. Ishida Akira
His voice is neither deep, nor romantic, but still quite unique. He appears in plenty of shows, often playing side characters but stealing the show with his soothing voice. It is quite interesting how can make his voice still sound young and fresh even though he is no longer a young man and also imitate old people while not being that old. Katsura from Gintama, Gaara form Naruto, or the main role in Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu.
