8. Ojiisan no Lamp

7. Shōwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjū

This is a bittersweet story about two artists of a storytelling traditional Japanese art called rakugo. 1. Natsume Yuujinchou

This anime is for me one of the most heartwarming stories I have ever watched. There are not plot twists or epic battles. This anime is about a young boy who can see youkai, the supernatural beings from Japanese myths and old tales. Some are friendly, some not, but the main character always tries to find a peaceful way to sort things out. It is a nice and cute story mixing the Japanese mythology with modern world, where an ordinary boy is not entirely transported into the new world like in isekai anime. He still attends school, lives with his foster family, and tries to help people around him and...not just people.

I would also like to mention Saint Oniisan, a story about Buddha and Jesus living together in a modern Japan. If you are interested in religions, just watch this one. It is really nice to watch two saints just being kind to each other and living together as good friends, despite the differences between their religions, that lead to arguments between many of their followers in real world.
