Were Adam and Eve Cavemen? Original Sin or Birth of Intellect?

The infamous story of Adam and Eve, the fall of man, expulsion from Eden. What exactly is this story?

And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field.

Who was Adam? Human? Homo sapiens? Caveman? Ape? He started recognizing the world, giving names to things around, separating things and maybe separating himself from the nature, from the world.

And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

What is that voice of serpent? We are at the beginning, the brink of human existence, the birth of human mind. Maybe the spark of curiosity? Maybe this was the moment when the animal noticed something different inside its "mind", something...human. Maybe this was the point when this individual was standing in front of a choice. Go further, think, investigate or keep living in the paradise, caring just about food and following basic instincts?

And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

Eve, the mother of living. The one who first realized that "she was". This self awareness, separating oneself from the world was the start of joy and suffering, start of knowing and not knowing, start of being honest and lying, fear and bravery. The end of acting just by instincts. What is happiness and what is suffering? Who decides when we shall be happy or sad? Our minds that were expelled form the realm of sweet ignorance. The concept of good and evil was born. Never satisfied, exploring the world, trying to make the life easier, working on the field, baking bread, just fighting the nature or shall we say, creating culture?

So where is the tree of life? Maybe this is the final part of each one’s spiritual way, the goal. Returning to Eden, becoming immortal, reaching perfection, becoming one with God.
